Printer Installation (Mac)

Step 1: Get your printer ready for the installation

Setup the printer over the wireless network, ensure that it is connected properly.

1. Organize the following items:

  • Network Name (SSID)
  • Network Password(WEP or WPA passphrase)
  • Connect the computer to your network.
  • Internet Access-Access the internet using Broadband or DSL cable.

2. Ensure that both devices are switched on and the printer is connected to the same wireless network as your Mac system. Switch on the printer and keep it within network range of the router.

3. Switch on the printer and router. Connect the printer and Mac to the same wireless network. Keep the printer close to the computer and within the range of the router during the setup procedure.

4. Detach the Ethernet cables, if linked to the printer.

Step 2: Get the latest printer driver installed:

Upgrade the latest and updated version of the printer driver for your printer.

  1. Open our customer support webpage on your browser and if required, enter the model number of your printer.
  2. Visit our website and key in the printer’s model number, if necessary
  3. Scroll to Software and Downloads and continue to download the latest driver or software for your printer.
  4. After the download has finished, press on the downloaded file on the downloads bar of your browser.
  5. Double click on the printer below the installer window.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  7. Access the HP Utility Setup window and choose your printer model, press on Continue and then on Add Printer.
    Confirm that you select the printer with Bonjour option below Kind.
  8. Press Print Using or Use and choose your printer model from the options list.
  9. Press Add to add your printer to the available list.

Below the Add printer window of the installer, press on Continue.

Follow the on-screen instructions and press on Done.

HP Envy 4507 printer- Printer offline or printer not responding message- Mac

When you try to print, you might receive the offline message as printer status if the printer or printer not found responding message.

Offline states that your Mac is not communicating with HP printer. The offline message results when the printer is switched off or a USB cable connection is disconnected.

Printer status

Step 1: Check the network connectivity between the printer and the Mac.

An offline message appears when your Mac cannot communicate with your printer. Select your desired connection type and the go along with the instructions to confirm that your Internet connection is working properly.

Remove the USB connection and then re- insert it to the Mac.

  1. Keep your printer off and wait for 5 seconds.
  2. Remove the USB cable from the rear of the printer.
  3. Keep your printer on.

The printer might make noise as it is powered on and might start printing the documents. Leave your printer to become stable and silent before you move to the next step.

  1. Wait for five seconds, and then reconnect the USB cable to the printer. Apply enough pressure to ensure the connection is secure. If the printer starts to print, let it finish printing before continuing.
  2. Try to print the document.

If the print job is successful, terminate the troubleshooting steps.

If the print job is not done, proceed to the steps below.

Network connection of your printer

If your printer name is shown in the list, then it is successfully connected to your computer. Go to your printer list and check whether the printer is connected.

  1. Reboot your printer and allow your printer to become idle.
  2. If you cannot restore the connection even after restarting your printer, reboot your router.

Shutdown all the activity that occurs on the network.

Hold on for 10 seconds after you disconnect the power cord.

Re- plug the power cord and stay until your router gets initialized and established a new connection to your Internet Service Provider. Before you proceed the Internet activity light should indicate a normal state.

  1. Reboot your computer and wait for it to become idle.
  2. Choose Apple icon, and then select System Preferences once the restarting of the computer is completed.
  3. To access the Printers list, click Printers and Scanners, Print and scan or Print and Fax.
  4. Choose your HP printer in the list and then select Open Print Queue.

If your printer model is not listed and no options for the printer are shown, there does not exist any network connection. Terminate the troubleshooting steps and search for a document that relates to connecting your printer to the network.

If your printer prompts in the device list and the printer options are displayed, the printer is connected to the network. Try to print again and move to the next if the problem prevails.

Step 2: Reset your printer system

The stored values on the firmware get reset when a power reset is done on the printer. A power reset supports you when the printer does not accept communication from the Mac.

  1. Ensure that your printer is stable and calm before you continue.
  2. When the printer is on, remove the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Remove the power cord from the electrical socket.
  4. Hold on for at least for 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord again into the wall outlet.
  6. The power cord should be reconnected to the rear of the printer.
  7. If the printer does not turn on automatically, use the power button to turn it on.
  8. Try printing your document again and note down what happens.

Stop troubleshooting if the printing job is performed.

Step 3: Exclude multiple printers from the printer list

Check the list for multiple devices in the list, and exclude the unused printers from the list.

  1. Browse the Mac for print, choose Print and Fax, Print and Scan or Printers and Scanners in the given list.
  2. Search the printer’s name that corresponds with your printer from the list of devices.
  3. Eliminate all extra printers from the print queue for the same printer by clicking it one at a time, then click the minus icon provided at the bottom of the list. Keep one idle printer in the list that corresponds your printer if exists, and set it as the Default printer.
  4. Try to print your document again.

Stop troubleshooting if the printing job is performed.

Step 4: Erase the existing print queue and include the printer

By doing so, you can create a new printing session.

  1. Confirm that you have connected your Mac to the Internet.
  2. Go to the printer list, choose yours, and click minus to eliminate it from the existing list.
  3. Select the Add button.
  4. Search and select your printer from the list, and then click Add to include your printer. You are not supposed to choose an HP Fax driver.
  5. Choose Print Using or Use-> printer name.

If your printer is not shown in the Print Using or Use list, get back to our website to get the latest driver.

Your new printer queue displays in the printers list in an idle status.

Step 5: Resetting the printing system

If all the prior steps fail, reset your entire print system.

  1. Go to the blank space in the list of the printer, right- click it and then choose Reset printing system.
  2. Select Reset in the confirmation pane.
  3. Enter your administrator username and password, and then click Ok.
  4. Wait for a few minutes until your print system gets reset and no devices are displayed in the printers list.
  5. Re- add your printer to the list as you did earlier.
  6. Try to print the document.

Step 6: Other measures to be carried out

If all the above troubleshooting techniques failed, check out these possible solutions.

6.1 Avoid connecting your printer to a host or a guest network

Value added features like isolation feature is available in your guest or host networks. This might also be the reason why the connection to the printer is restricted.

Make use of Wi- Fi Direct or HP Wireless direct to connect the printer to the wireless connection directly, and print from the printer.

The above-explained feature can be temporarily deactivated if you have access to the wireless router of the guest network. By doing so, your printer establishes a connection to the Internet. Once it is done, try to print using HP ePrint.

6.2 Connect your printer to some other computer

6.4 Deactivate IPv6 – Network Connection

Deactivate IPv6 on the printer to make sure that IPv4 is used on your network.

If the printer you use has a control panel with a display based device, search IPv6 settings from the advanced network settings menu, and then configure it to off or disabled.

If the printer you use is not a control panel based device, make use of embedded web server to disable IPv6.

On your network connected computer, enter your printer IP address into the URL column of your Internet browser.

Press Enable IPv4 only.
